Caveman Audio‘s AP1 Acoustic Preamp has quickly caught the attention of acoustic guitar aficionados everywhere, and now the company adds a compact version of this preamp circuit to its product line.
(1 July 2022, Egtved, Denmark) Caveman Audio’s AP1 Compact gives acoustic guitar players the same fundamental tone of its AP1 Acoustic Preamp, but with a significantly smaller footprint. Since the goal is improving the core guitar tone, its purpose is not to act as an effects pedal, but rather to serve as an always-on component in the signal chain.
“I am extremely pleased that we succeeded with shrinking our acoustic preamp design without introducing any sonic compromises whatsoever. In fact, more than anything AP1 Compact is all about tone,” says Steen Skrydstrup, Founder and Head Engineer of Caveman Audio.
“In order to arrive at such a small footprint compared to the original AP1 Acoustic Preamp, we removed the optional wireless input and went for an external power supply, but the core functionality such as Amp Out, Tuner Out and Mute for silent tuning remains.
And most important of all, the internal circuit delivers the exact same tonal bliss that so many acoustic players have already become addicted to.”
Caveman Audio recognises that the sheer preamp design is not the only component capable of enhancing the fundamental sound of an acoustic guitar audio signal. Therefore, the company also pay focused attention on suppressing noise and avoid impedance mismatch in the electronic design that surrounds the preamp circuit, which includes transformer-balanced DI output and unique RFI protection – all of it housed in a road-ready, zinc-plated steel enclosure.
