Bend, Oregon builder celebrates milestone with four limited edition guitars – up first, the 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic!

Bend, ORE—Jan. 1, 2021—In January, Breedlove Guitars, based in Bend, Oregon, marks the 30th Anniversary of bringing its first instrument to market, a striking Western red cedar and highly-figured koa C-1, which introduced the revolutionary Breedlove Concert body to the music world.

Unveiled at NAMM, in winter 1991, that guitar now sits on display at Breedlove headquarters, reminding craftspeople every day of the brand’s ceaseless three-decade history of innovation.

To honor the milestone, throughout 2021, Breedlove will issue four very special, limited edition guitars—each celebrating a defining model; each updated with ongoing Breedlove innovations like sustainable, clear-cut free tonewoods, soft cutaways, hand-voicing and Sound Optimization®.

The first, a 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic, will be unveiled, fittingly, at the company’s own virtual VIP Winter Show Pregame Event, Jan. 11–12, in anticipation of NAMM 2021 (Jan. 21–24).

Introduced in 1995, the Custom Masterclass Northwest Classic was one of Breedlove’s early flagship models, based on tonewoods indigenous to Breedlove’s beloved Pacific Northwest and decorated with exquisite Inuit fretboard inlays.

The instrument’s Oregon myrtlewood back and sides proved a revelation, with Breedlove again leading the way in acoustic guitar development, establishing a powerful new voice blending the best sonic elements of rosewood, mahogany and maple.

The 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic, its limited availability already creating a buzz in guitar circles, is handcrafted and hand voiced from clear-cut free, sustainable 3A Sitka spruce and highly figured myrtlewood, and trimmed with figured walnut binding and myrtle appointments, including a newly designed knotted rosette.

Now, a King salmon, rendered in myrtle, jumps across the twelfth fret, splashing back into the Deschutes River as it wends its way toward Bend, a symbol of Breedlove’s commitment to preserving the earth while providing musicians with superior sounding, comfortable, easy-playing, beautiful instruments.

A dazzling display of American guitar artistry, the Made in Bend soft cutaway 30th Anniversary Northwest Classic—equipped with LR Baggs Anthem electronics—features a long sustaining hard rock maple neck; gold hardware; ebony fretboard and winged bridge; and custom Ameritage case.
