EarthQuaker Devices Announces a Limited Edition Avalanche Run to Support the Lottery League

AKRON, OHIO, APRIL 2024 – The Lottery League and EarthQuaker Devices have joined forces to produce a limited edition version of the famed Avalanche Run pedal to help fund and support the 2024 Lottery League Season. This pedal features new and exclusive artwork by Cleveland artist Clay Parker whose renowned work has been adored by musicians and bands from all over with his extensive work creating album cover art, gig fliers and posters.

Each season the Lottery League brings together over 170 musicians from across the Ohio region to be randomly drafted into new bands, all featuring musicians and artists who have never performed together before. And the whole project culminates with The BIG SHOW where, after two months of collaborating, creating and rehearsing, each of the 40+ newly formed bands then perform their all original sets to thousands of fans across three stages in an all day long free festival that’s truly unlike anything else.

Having a common goal of inspiring and challenging performers in exciting and different ways, EarthQuaker Devices and the Lottery League share the mission of fostering a lifetime of musical creativity and connectivity, and every one of these limited edition Avalanche Run pedals that’s sold will help support the Lottery League and the great expense it takes to construct such a unique art project with multiple events all free and open to the public.

EarthQuaker Devices Limited Edition Avalanche Run

The Avalanche Run pedal itself is a dreamy stereosonic exploratory multi-tool that includes up to 2 seconds of delay time, reverse delay, tap tempo with subdivision control, switchable true bypass or buffered bypass with 5 different tail lengths (including a sound-on-sound style lo-fi looping mode) and an assignable expression control that maps the expression jack to a control of your choice, including the toggle! And as with every pedal by EarthQuaker Devices, this limited edition pedal is hand-built, hand-tested, and guaranteed for life.

Preorders are open until May 29 on the EarthQuaker Devices Reverb Store, with finished units expected to ship out in mid-June.

ABOUT THE LOTTERY LEAGUE:

Currently beginning its 6th Season, this biennial Lottery League event that was created back in 2007 has seen over 560 unique musicians from all over the Ohio region take part to form over 200 bands. Always a snapshot of the current music scene happening in venues and on stages throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond, the 2024 Season is anticipated to be the biggest and best season of the Lottery League ever.

How does the Lottery League work? All 170+ participants each season are randomly drafted into more than 40+ all-new, four-piece bands, using only one essential rule: No participant can be placed into a group with anyone they are currently or have previously collaborated with musically. After The Draft these newly formed bands are given two months to come up with a band name, band identity, and a 10 minute set of all original material which is then performed for the very first time at The BIG SHOW.

While there is no intention nor expectation for these bands to continue forward after The BIG SHOW, many have, having toured and created music for several years all after being randomly drafted together by the Lottery League. Often the camaraderie among musicians forged within the Lottery League spreads, and all involved end up with a much larger network of artists and creatives and the connectivity within the music scene expands and evolves.

For many musicians who have only worked within the same organically formed circle of friends and/or with other like minded musicians, this collaboration and artistic challenge has worked to open them up creatively. Given the vast diversity represented in age, gender, race, musical interests and even musicality, the Lottery League asks everyone to enter into this project with an open mind and checked ego to truly connect and collaborate with one another, using the group’s ideas collectively where the outcome they develop often ends up as something they never would have expected. In all, the Lottery League is the only lottery where everyone wins.

Support from Northeast Ohio’s own Earthquaker Devices helps to support all the events that the Lottery League hosts for free and open to the public. The Lottery League is honored and appreciative of all its support, including with this exclusive, limited edition Avalanche Run pedal, where each pedal sold helps to fund its 2024 full slate of events. The Lottery League’s two-month season begins with The Draft on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Ingenuity Cleveland, followed by The BIG SHOW MMXXIV on Saturday, June 8, at Ingenuity Cleveland.
