THE NETHERLANDS (April 10, 2020) — Inspired by the past and challenged by the future, Volt Electrics proudly introduces a new model of “The Reverse” guitar with humbucker pickups. As Volt’s inaugural model, The Reverse was designed to be a hybrid of two of the greatest guitars in rock ‘n roll history, and presented a new interpretation of a classic backwards design from the 1960s. Fittingly, Volt has chosen Sheptone Tribute pickups to further enhance The Reverse’s exceptional resonance and sonic character. Rethought and reimagined, the new Reverse delivers everything players love about the classics, without sacrificing killer looks and playability.

Volt’s journey of building The Reverse began with reverence for the Fender Telecaster and the Gibson Firebird. The Volt team had seen Telebirds on the market, but found that those guitars are basically Teles with different body shapes. Instead, they took the opposite approach and set out to build a guitar that’s in essence a Bird in feel and look, but with Tele influences hidden in the construction and wood choice. Balancing both influences, The Reverse has a Tele-inspired neck joint without the Fender-ish heel, and a thin, lightweight body that’s well-balanced and adopts the esthetic of the Bird.

American-made and infused with the spirit of rock ‘n roll, Sheptone Tributes have been carefully designed for the best tone through extensive research, winding/re-winding, and comparison testing. These pickups are made with rough finished Alnico 5 (degaussed) magnets with 57-58 spec 42 Enamel and come standard with 49.2 mm pole spacing. They produce the same beautiful sound as original PAF pickups and provide excellent definition, whether the desired tone is clean, twangy, or crunchy.

From top to bottom, and even frontwards and backwards, The Reverse is the customizable, hand built guitar designed to take players to the next level of their musical journey. Volt’s boutique blueprint offers plenty of customizations, starting with the choice of mahogany, alder, or the Tele-classic swamp ash body, all with authentic vintage wing tapering. Body binding is optional, and players can choose vintage aging at either a light or medium level. Solid-color options are available in metallic or burst, with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

The Reverse channels the Tele with its bolt-on maple neck and long 25.2’’ scale, which offers a compound fretboard radius ranging from 7.25’’ to 10’’ with a medium C shape. The fretboard is available in maple, rosewood, blackwood, or ebony, and offers 22 frets with Jescar fretwire, hidden ends, and optional block or trapezoid inlays. The Reverse has a 1.67’’ nut made of unbleached bone with intonation correction. Tonal and tuning stability are further aided by the headstock, which is angled for optimal string tension, and an ABM Tune-O-Matic bridge. This vintage-quality ABR-1 style bridge is milled from a solid block of brass for superior quality and tone, and its machined brass saddles are reversible to give extra intonation room on the bass strings.

The custom Volt truss rod cover esthetically complements the black-finish headstock and corresponds to the custom Volt bridge plate on the body, as both are made of nickel hardware with an embossed logo. Gotoh SDS510 vintage-style machine heads deliver superior sound performance quality, tuning functionality, and durability.

Volt keeps the electronic controls simple with tone control for the neck and bridge pickups and master volume control. A 3-way pickup selector switch is set on the horn pickguard, complete with Volt’s own firebird insignia. This tip-of-the-hat reminds players that they can pay homage to the past while forging their own creative future. At a base price of approximately $3,800 (Volt hardshell case included), the investment in this future is within reach.
