With classic 1950’s automobile styling and colours that include a striking Gas Pump Red and Sparkling Gold Sand, the Joe Doe ‘Gas Jockey’ guitars are once again, from the mind of Joe Doe designer, Ben Court. The ‘Gas Jockey’ is a faithful reproduction of the guitar owned by Wally ‘Songman’ Saban, a gas pump attendant who became a local legend because of his ability to play any hit song since 1963 from memory.
Offset with black gloss headstock facias, white scratchplates and gold hardware, these stunning double cutaway, mahogany bodied guitars, play and sound as good as they look.
Maple set-necks and 22 fret, bound genuine rosewood fingerboards with pearloid inlays feed sustain, harmonic content and dynamics to a trio of Wilkinson WOCMHB mini-double coil, low-noise pickups installed within the raised centre section of the body.
With alnico V magnets, delivering the perfect cross between the chime of a single coil and the warmth of a double coil, the new Joe Doe ‘Gas Jockey’ guitars are ideal for all musical styles. Additional hardware includes a Wilkinson T.O.M bridge, WJ55 machine heads and a GraphTech nut for accurate intonation and stable tuning.
