Elektron Releases Tonverk 1.4.0 With Overbridge Streaming

Elektron has released Tonverk 1.4.0, a major operating system update that introduces Overbridge multitrack streaming alongside new modulation and workflow features. The update also adds semitone-based pattern transposition, flexible effect ordering and a range of performance, stability and interface improvements.

The Swedish musical instrument manufacturer describes the release as the first stage of Overbridge support for Tonverk. Further development, including work to reduce latency, is continuing.

Overbridge brings separate track streaming

The initial Overbridge implementation allows Tonverk users to stream each track separately to a computer. The feature is primarily designed to provide more flexibility when recording, mixing and continuing production in a computer-based setup.

Elektron notes that the current release focuses on multitrack streaming rather than complete DAW integration. Musicians and producers can nevertheless record individual Tonverk tracks directly into their production environment and process them independently.

Velocity and Key Tracking expand modulation options

Tonverk 1.4.0 adds Velocity and Key Tracking to the instrument’s modulation setup. Each modulation source can control up to four destinations, allowing performers to shape sounds dynamically while playing.

Velocity Mod adjusts assigned parameters according to the velocity of each played note. This can add movement and expression by making a sound react differently to softer and harder playing.

Key Tracking changes parameters depending on the position of a note on the keyboard. Lower and higher notes can therefore influence the sound in different ways, creating tonal variations across the keyboard range.

Pattern transposition works in semitone steps

A new shortcut makes it possible to transpose every note within a pattern up or down in semitone increments. Users can test different keys and harmonic variations without changing the pattern’s original note data.

Users can change the order of effects

The update also introduces FX Order Swap for Audio and Bus tracks. Users can switch the order of FX1 and FX2 without rebuilding the effects chain, making it easier to compare how different routing configurations influence the sound.

Parameter pages can be reloaded independently

With the new Reload Parameter Page function, users can restore the currently selected parameter page to its memorized state. Changes made on one page can therefore be reversed without affecting the remaining sound settings.

The feature provides another way to experiment with parameters while retaining a quick path back to the previously saved configuration.

Additional workflow and stability improvements

Tonverk 1.4.0 includes several further features and fixes. Patterns can now be copied, pasted and cleared without leaving the current pattern. Elektron has also added filtering and search options to the Presets menu.

Other changes include freely selectable MIDI channels for individual tracks, the ability to clear modulation macro pages and general improvements to performance, stability and the user interface.

The complete list of changes and the Tonverk 1.4.0 download are available in the official release notes. Further information about the instrument is available on the Elektron Tonverk product page.
