Munich, Germany, June 24, 2026Tonalic, the music production plug-in from Celemony, has added a new set of percussion performances by Grammy-nominated percussionist and multi-instrumentalist David Kuckhermann.

The update broadens Tonalic’s library with a focus on the calabash, an organic-sounding percussion instrument that is rarely used in modern music production. The release also adds new cajons, congas, udus and brush-played djembes for producers working in singer-songwriter, pop, EDM and hip-hop contexts.

David Kuckhermann brings global percussion traditions to Tonalic

David Kuckhermann has performed internationally, including at the Royal Albert Hall in London and on tours with Dead Can Dance. His playing draws on percussion traditions from Iran, India, Egypt, Turkey, Europe and Africa, combining traditional techniques with a contemporary studio-focused approach.

For Tonalic, Kuckhermann recorded full musical performances rather than simple one-bar loops. The new material includes variations, transitions and endings, giving producers more flexible percussion parts that can respond naturally inside a DAW arrangement.

Calabash, cajons, congas, udus and djembes added

At the center of the update is the calabash, which brings a warm and organic percussion character to the Tonalic library. Around it, the new release expands the plug-in’s hand-percussion palette with additional cajons, congas, udus and brush-played djembes.

Like other Tonalic performances, the recordings adapt musically to the user’s chords, tempo and groove. The plug-in is designed to give producers access to real performances by studio musicians while preserving the sound, feel and musical detail of the original playing.
