Spector Launches Euro 4 Rex Brown Signature Bass

Guitar Pro 8 - Buy now

Spector has introduced the Euro 4 Rex Brown Signature bass, a new artist model developed with the longtime Pantera bassist. The instrument combines Brown’s established neck profile and performance-focused specifications with EMG PJ-X pickups, active TonePump electronics and Euro Series construction.

Available now with a street price of $3,599.99 USD, the four-string bass is positioned as a production-ready version of the Spector instruments Brown has used throughout his career.

A new signature model shaped by Rex Brown’s career

Brown’s bass work has been a defining part of Pantera’s catalog, including albums such as Cowboys from Hell and Far Beyond Driven. His career spans multiplatinum releases and extensive international touring, while his long-standing relationship with Spector has influenced the development of the new model.

According to the manufacturer, the Euro 4 Rex Brown Signature bass was designed around Brown’s requirements for tonal clarity, punch and reliability during live performances.

“The new Rex Brown Euro Bass has been a labor of love,” Brown said. “We took our time with every detail, from the balance of the pickups to the backplate design, it features the same neck profile I’ve used on my Spector’s for years. It all comes together in a bass I’m incredibly proud of and one I think players will really enjoy.”

Empresswood body and Desert Gold finish

The Euro 4 Rex Brown Signature features empresswood body wings topped with flame maple. Spector says this combination retains the tonal character associated with its basses while reducing the instrument’s overall weight for longer performances.

Its Desert Gold finish takes inspiration from the landscape of New Mexico, where Brown lives. Visual details include smoke crown inlays, gold hardware and a classic script Spector logo. Brown’s personal logo appears on the rear of the headstock.

Neck-through construction and signature profile

Spector has used its established neck-through construction for the new signature bass. A three-piece maple neck runs through the body, a design intended to provide stability and sustain.

The neck is paired with an Indian rosewood fingerboard and a brass nut. It also uses Brown’s signature neck profile, recreating the feel of the Spector basses he has played for years.

EMG PJ-X pickups and TonePump preamp

The electronics consist of EMG PJ-X pickups and Spector’s active TonePump preamp. The PJ configuration combines Precision-style and Jazz-style pickup formats, while the X Series electronics are designed to offer an articulate response and increased headroom.

Spector describes the resulting sound as having a strong low-end presence and defined midrange character. Players can adjust the instrument’s output level through an accessible trimpot on the rear of the bass.
