Ernie Ball Music Man has introduced the John Petrucci Majesty Premium Select Collection, a new evolution of the company’s long-running Majesty guitar platform. Developed in collaboration with Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci, the model is designed for high-performance use on stage and in the studio.
Announced from San Luis Obispo, California, on May 20, 2026, the Majesty Premium Select builds on Petrucci’s established signature guitar concept with updated tonewoods, performance-focused electronics, and expanded configuration options.
A Refined Evolution of the Majesty Platform
The John Petrucci Majesty Premium Select features a mahogany neck-through-body construction with alder wings and a thick maple top. According to Ernie Ball Music Man, the design is intended to deliver depth, sustain, articulation, and clarity for players who need a precise sound in dense live or studio mixes.
The guitar is fitted with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard and stainless steel frets, supporting durability and accurate playability. Glow-in-the-dark side position markers are also included for improved visibility in low-light performance settings.
DiMarzio Pickups, Piezo Tremolo and Flexible Outputs
At the core of the Majesty Premium Select are John Petrucci’s Signature DiMarzio Rainmaker and Dreamcatcher humbuckers. These pickups are paired with a piezo-equipped Music Man floating tremolo system, allowing players to access electric tones as well as acoustic-style textures from the same instrument.
The model also includes stereo and mono output options, giving guitarists additional routing flexibility for live rigs and recording setups. An onboard 20+ dB gain boost provides instant lead enhancement and added dynamic control.
Available in 6-, 7- and 8-String Configurations
The John Petrucci Majesty Premium Select Collection is available in 6-string, 7-string and 8-string versions. Ernie Ball Music Man is offering the new model in five finishes:

John Petrucci’s Longstanding Role in Signature Guitar Development
John Petrucci is best known as the guitarist, producer, lyricist and founding member of progressive metal band Dream Theater, as well as a founding member of Liquid Tension Experiment.
