Guild Reissues Cult-Classic S-300 Deluxe Offset Guitar in Two Metallic Finishes

Guild has brought back one of its more unconventional electric guitar designs with the launch of the S-300 Deluxe. The new model revisits the offset-body S-300 first introduced in 1977, now offered in Neptune Blue Metallic and Vintage Sterling Metallic finishes.

The Guild S-300 Deluxe is available now with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $799.99 USD for each finish.

A 1970s Guild Offset Returns

Originally released nearly five decades ago, the S-300 stood apart from more traditional solidbody electric guitars through its dramatic cutaways, contoured body shape and phase-switching electronics. The updated S-300 Deluxe keeps the vintage-inspired character while adding refinements aimed at comfort, playability and stage appeal.

“The S-300 was viewed as fairly radical when it was introduced nearly 50 years ago,” said Nick Beach, Product Manager, Fretted Instruments. “The guitar’s offset body had dramatic cutaways and contours that gave it a futuristic look, and its phase switch was also unusual at the time — but since then it has become increasingly popular and collectable. With the new S-300 Deluxe guitar, we’re bringing back a classic with a few key changes to make it even more comfortable and giving players a choice of eye-catching metallic finishes.”

Guild S-300 Deluxe Features and Specifications

The S-300 Deluxe Neptune Blue Metallic and S-300 Deluxe Vintage Sterling Metallic both feature contoured mahogany bodies and Soft U mahogany set necks. Guild has paired the construction with ivory-bound rosewood fingerboards, large vintage-style headstocks, Guild peak logos and Chesterfield inlays.

Other visual details include 5-ply black pickguards and top hat knobs, giving the guitars a retro-informed look that aligns with the Newark St. Collection’s vintage-inspired positioning.

Hardware and Electronics

Hardware includes an Ultimate Angle Tune-o-matic-style bridge, a vintage-style Guild Compensated tailpiece and Grover G2 open-gear tuners.

For pickups, Guild has equipped the S-300 Deluxe with a pair of HB-2+ humbuckers using Alnico V magnets. Dual Volume and Tone controls are joined by a phase switch, giving players access to a broad range of sounds from warm, punchy tones to brighter, higher-gain textures.

Part of the Guild Newark St. Collection

The S-300 Deluxe joins Guild’s Deluxe series within the Newark St. Collection, a line focused on vintage-inspired instruments. The series also includes the Polara Deluxe.

Guild positions the S-300 Deluxe as a flexible solidbody electric guitar suited to styles including hard rock, pop and experimental music. Its offset silhouette, metallic finishes and phase-switching circuit place it in a distinctive space within the company’s electric guitar lineup.
