EarthQuaker Devices has brought back the Bellows Fuzz Driver as a limited Legacy Reissue, seven years after the original pedal was discontinued. The Akron, Ohio-based effects maker is limiting the release to 1,000 units worldwide, reviving the original circuit in a compact two-knob format.
Announced on July 2, 2026, the Bellows Legacy Reissue Limited Edition Fuzz Driver is available now. In the United States, the pedal is sold exclusively through Sweetwater, while Canadian availability is through Long & McQuade. Customers outside the U.S. and Canada are advised to contact an authorized EarthQuaker Devices dealer for pricing and availability.
A Straightforward Dirt Pedal With a Cult Following
First introduced at Winter NAMM 2016, the Bellows Fuzz Driver was positioned as a back-to-basics, transistor-based dirt pedal. Rather than recreating a specific vintage circuit, it was designed to sit between amp-like grit and saturated fuzz.
The pedal was discontinued in 2019, but later developed an underground following among guitarists and bassists. A key reason is its full-frequency response, which preserves low end and avoids the low-end scoop often associated with fuzz circuits.
“I really wanted to have something simple in our line that had that blown out tweed edge but still had clarity and sustain and could also get into heavily saturated fuzz territory and the Bellows filled that void perfectly,” said EarthQuaker Devices Founder & President Jamie Stillman.
Stillman added that while Bellows was initially developed for guitar, he feels it “really excels on bass,” retaining bottom end and a crunchy top end without overly accentuating or scooping the mids.
Original Circuit, Two Controls and True Bypass
The EarthQuaker Bellows Fuzz Driver Legacy Reissue uses the same circuit as the original model. Its control layout remains intentionally simple, with Level and Drive knobs providing the main tonal range.
The Drive control works similarly to the volume control on a non-master-volume amplifier, determining how hard the signal hits the input. At lower settings, Bellows delivers a wider, grittier overdrive. At higher settings, it moves into heavily saturated fuzz territory.
Because the circuit preserves the full frequency range of the input signal, EarthQuaker Devices describes Bellows as suitable not only for guitar and bass, but also for organ, electric piano, synth, drums, vocals, harp and other sources.
