Summer School Electronics has introduced the Double Major, a dual-channel overdrive pedal designed to provide two independently configured transparent-drive sounds in one enclosure. Each channel features selectable soft or hard clipping using germanium diodes.
Announced on August 19, 2026, the new pedal is handmade in Syracuse, New York, and carries a street price of $299.99.
Two Independent and Stackable Drive Channels
The Double Major reimagines a well-known transparent overdrive circuit by doubling its architecture. Players can save two preferred settings, use either channel independently or stack both channels together.
This configuration allows the pedal to function as a drive and boost in either order, as two differently voiced overdrives or as a pair of gain stages designed specifically for stacking.
Each channel includes dedicated Volume, Drive and Tone controls. Players can also select soft or hard germanium-diode clipping separately for each side, making it possible to combine different clipping responses within a single signal chain.
