DOD has introduced the DRAG™ Analog Delay, a compact effects pedal that combines an all-analog bucket brigade delay circuit with real-time pitch manipulation and expanded modulation controls. The pedal is available worldwide through local retailers and online at a street price of $219.99.
Designed for both conventional delay sounds and more experimental textures, the DOD DRAG Analog Delay provides up to 750 milliseconds of delay time. Its Rubbernecking™ function extends that range to 1.5 seconds while linking changes in delay time to octave-up and octave-down pitch shifts.
Analog delay with expanded performance controls
The pedal’s principal controls include Time, Feedback, Level and Filter. Two additional performance controls, Drift™ and Friction™, provide access to modulation and real-time delay manipulation.
According to DOD, the DRAG can produce sounds ranging from short slapback echoes to modulated repeats and controlled runaway oscillation. The Friction functions allow players to alter delay time and pitch while performing.
SlideStop™ brings the delay signal to a complete stop before gradually returning it to its previous state. The Evade™ modes add alternative movement patterns, including HopStop™ and Slide-n-Go™, while Rubbernecking creates octave-based pitch changes tied directly to shifts in delay time.
Four modulation waveforms and three intensity ranges
The modulation section offers four selectable waveforms: sine, reverse saw, square and random. Players can also choose between light, medium and heavy intensity ranges.
The Drift control adjusts modulation depth and speed, while the Curve™ control determines how the modulation develops. This allows the pedal to move from subtle pitch movement to more pronounced and irregular textures.
Multi-function footswitch and external control
A short press of the multi-function footswitch engages or bypasses the effect according to the selected bypass mode. Holding the footswitch activates the Friction function for real-time control of SlideStop, Rubberneck and Evade effects.
A central button provides access to several bypass configurations, including true bypass and buffered modes with delay tails. The pedal also includes a 3.5mm input for an optional FS3X footswitch, adding tap tempo, oscillation hold and modulation switching.
Reversible StagePlate for floor or pedalboard use
The DOD DRAG Analog Delay is housed in an aluminum chassis with top-mounted jacks. Its patent-pending reversible StagePlate™ has a Tire Tread Skid Pad on one side for additional stability and a hook surface on the other for pedalboard mounting.
The pedal measures 4.8 by 2.8 by 1.5 inches, weighs 0.67 pounds and operates from a standard 9V DC power supply.
