Cort Guitars has expanded its acoustic lineup with the Exotic Series, a three-model collection combining solid spruce tops with distinctive walnut, myrtlewood and ash burl back and sides. Aimed at entry-level and intermediate players, the new acoustic-electric guitars pair naturally varied wood grain with onboard electronics and a street price of $329.99.
Announced in Seoul, South Korea, the Cort Exotic Series comprises the Exotic-GA Walnut, Exotic-SFX Myrtle and Exotic-SFX Ash. Each model offers a different body shape, finish and tonal profile while sharing the same core construction and stage-ready features.
Three tonewood combinations and two body styles
The Exotic-GA Walnut features a Grand Auditorium body with Claro walnut back and sides, a solid spruce top and an organic sunburst finish. According to Cort, this combination produces a warm low-mid presence, controlled sustain and a balanced response suited to both fingerstyle playing and strumming.
The Exotic-SFX Myrtle combines myrtlewood back and sides with a solid spruce top and sunburst finish. Its slimmer SFX body and Venetian cutaway are designed to provide comfortable access to the upper frets. Cort describes the model as delivering an articulate, balanced response with clear note separation across a wide dynamic range.
Completing the collection, the Exotic-SFX Ash uses highly figured ash burl for its back and sides, paired with a solid spruce top and black finish. It shares the SFX body shape and Venetian cutaway of the Myrtle model but is voiced for defined notes and a warmer, bass-forward response.
All three Cort Exotic Series guitars feature aged white body binding and an aged white and black ABS rosette.
Shared neck and hardware specifications
Each model has a 25.5-inch (648 mm) scale length and a mahogany neck joined to the body with a dovetail joint at the 14th fret. The neck uses a C-shaped profile intended to offer comfortable hand placement, particularly for developing players.
The laurel fingerboard has a flat 15.75-inch (400 mm) radius and 20 frets. Cort says this configuration supports clean single-note playing and easier string bending across the neck.
A matching laurel bridge is combined with a high-density PPS nut and saddle. Nut width varies by body style: the Exotic-GA Walnut has a 1 3/4-inch nut, while the two SFX models use a narrower 1 11/16-inch specification.
Advanced X-bracing beneath the soundboard is designed to promote top vibration while providing structural support against string tension. Die-cast tuning machines with aged white knobs complement the binding, while premium coated factory strings are intended to resist corrosion and retain high-frequency clarity.
CE304T electronics included across the range
Every Cort Exotic Series model is equipped with the company’s CE304T acoustic preamp and an under-saddle pickup. The active system provides onboard volume and tone controls positioned on the upper bout.
A built-in digital LED tuner allows players to check pitch without additional equipment. The electronics are designed for direct connection to an acoustic amplifier, recording setup or front-of-house PA system while retaining the natural dynamics of the solid spruce top.
