Cort Expands Core Series Acoustic Guitars With New All-Solid Models

Guitar Pro 8 - Buy now

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREACort has expanded its Core Series acoustic guitars with new all-solid models built around exotic tonewoods, refined construction and stage-ready electronics. The updated lineup now includes the Core-GA Formosan koa and Core-OC Maple alongside the previously released Core-MC Ovangkol. Each model follows the same performance-focused design approach while offering a distinct tonal character for different playing styles.

All-Solid Construction Across the Core Series

At the center of the Cort Core Series acoustic guitars is all-solid construction, paired with hand-scalloped X-bracing and a dovetail neck joint at the 14th fret. Cort says the design is intended to support tonal integrity, resonance and dynamic response across the range.

The Core-GA Formosan koa features a solid spruce top with solid Formosan koa, also known as Acacia Confusa, for the back and sides. The combination is designed to deliver a warm response with added harmonic depth.

The Core-OC Maple pairs a solid spruce top with solid sycamore maple back and sides, producing a brighter and more articulate voice with strong projection. The Core-MC Ovangkol uses a solid spruce top with solid ovangkol back and sides, emphasizing clarity, depth and a broad dynamic range.

UV-Cured Finish Designed to Preserve Resonance

All models in the Core Series feature a semi-gloss, ultra-thin UV-cured finish. According to Cort, the finish is designed to preserve acoustic resonance while adding a vintage-inspired burst look to the instruments.

The series also includes aged white ABS binding, black-and-aged white ABS rosettes and vintage open-gear tuning machines, giving the guitars a cohesive visual identity across the lineup.

Model-Specific Neck Designs and Playability

Cort has tailored the neck construction of each model while maintaining a consistent playing feel. The Core-GA Formosan koa comes with a mahogany neck, Comfort C profile, rosewood fingerboard with a 15.75-inch radius and a 25.5-inch scale length.

The Core-OC Maple features a hard maple neck with the same Comfort C profile, rosewood fingerboard and 25.5-inch scale length. Both new models include 20 frets and genuine bone nuts. The GA model has a 1 3/4-inch, or 45 mm, nut width, while the OM model uses a 1 11/16-inch, or 43 mm, nut width.

Fishman Presys VT Electronics for Stage and Studio

Each Core Series acoustic guitar is equipped with Fishman Presys VT electronics. The system includes discreet side-mounted controls for volume and tone, giving players a straightforward amplified setup while preserving a clean acoustic signal.

The electronics are intended to make the guitars suitable for both studio use and live performance, allowing players to move between unplugged and amplified settings with minimal adjustment.

Hardware, Strings and Included Gig Bag

Additional appointments include genuine bone nuts and saddles, rosewood bridges and Venetian cutaways on applicable models for improved upper-fret access.

Each guitar ships with Elixir Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb Light strings in a 12-53 gauge and includes a Cort gig bag.

The Cort Core Series acoustic guitars are available now. Street pricing is listed at €739 for the Core-GA Formosan koa, €729 for the Core-OC Maple and €759 for the Core-MC Ovangkol.
