Blackstar has expanded the BEAM MINI desktop guitar amplifier with NAM compatibility, app-based tone editing, AI-ready features, and a portable DSP-powered design.
NORTHAMPTON, UK – Blackstar Amplification has expanded the functionality of its BEAM MINI desktop guitar amplifier, introducing software-driven features for modern players, recording musicians, and content creators.
Originally unveiled at the NAMM Show in January, the compact amplifier platform now combines advanced digital modelling, community-driven tone capture support, and app-based control in a portable format designed for practice, recording, and streaming.
Native NAM Compatibility Unlocks a Large Tone Library
A key update is native compatibility with TONE3000 NAM captures, giving users access to more than 200,000 community-created amp profiles.
This expands the tonal range of the Blackstar BEAM MINI and makes the desktop amp a flexible option for guitarists seeking a wide variety of sounds without additional hardware.
The amplifier also includes Blackstar’s CabRig system, an impulse response-based speaker and microphone simulation platform designed to improve recording and playback realism.
DSP Modelling in a Portable Desktop Amp
At its core, the BEAM MINI is a DSP-powered desktop amplifier built on Blackstar’s component-level modelling architecture. The system includes:
- 12 electric guitar amp models
- 3 bass amp models
- 2 acoustic voices and an acoustic simulator
Developed by Blackstar’s UK engineering team, the amplifier is housed in a sealed, acoustically tuned cabinet with dual full-range drivers and passive bass radiators.
The design focuses on delivering a responsive playing experience in a compact and portable enclosure.
App Integration and AI Features for Content Creators
The BEAM MINI integrates with a companion mobile app, allowing users to edit tones, manage presets, and access a growing library of amp, cabinet, microphone, and pedal models.
An upcoming software update scheduled for August 2026 will introduce integration with Moises AI, enabling stem separation for isolating or removing instruments from songs.
Additional app features include backing tracks, instructional videos, artist-created patches, and access to a community-driven tone-sharing platform.
Simple Controls with Deeper App-Based Editing
Blackstar has designed the BEAM MINI around a hybrid control approach, combining immediate onboard control with deeper editing through the companion app.
- SpeedDial interface for quick parameter access
- Light Beam Display for visual feedback
- XpressFX for adjusting multiple effects at once
- App-based tone editing and patch management
The goal is to let users shape tones quickly without relying on complex menu navigation.
Built for Mobility and Everyday Use
The BEAM MINI is designed for portability and durability, with an IP66-rated enclosure that is dust-tight and weather-resistant.
The unit delivers more than 18 hours of battery-powered operation, supporting use at home, in studios, and in mobile playing environments.
Blackstar’s Super Wide Stereo technology enhances playback for both guitar tones and Bluetooth audio streaming.
Blackstar BEAM MINI Price and Availability
The Blackstar BEAM MINI is available at a street price of $229.99 USD.
