CALABASAS, Calif., September 1, 2026 – Córdoba Guitars has begun shipping the Abasi Stage 7, a seven-string solidbody nylon-string electric guitar developed in collaboration with Abasi Concepts. The new model combines Córdoba’s Stage construction and pickup system with the ergonomic Larada platform associated with guitarist Tosin Abasi.
Designed for extended-range playing and amplified live performance, the Abasi Stage 7 features fanned frets, enhanced upper-fret access and a compact body intended to reduce the feedback limitations commonly associated with traditional nylon-string guitars.
Córdoba Stage Design Meets Larada Ergonomics
The instrument grew out of Abasi’s experience using Córdoba’s existing Stage model in high-volume live environments. Its design brings together the Stage guitar’s solidbody nylon-string architecture and a customized Fishman pickup system with the extended range and ergonomic shape of the Larada platform.
“Tosin Abasi had been using our Stage model to get great nylon-string tone on loud stages, but he had a vision of something a bit different,” said Michael Fischer, Córdoba Guitar Project Engineer. “The fusion of the Stage architecture and special Fishman pickup with the ergonomics, fanned frets, and extended range of the Larada was an enticing combination.”
According to Abasi, the objective was to create an instrument that could introduce nylon-string sounds into musical settings where a conventional acoustic-electric guitar might be difficult to use.
“When we develop a new instrument, the goal is always for it to have a clear reason to exist,” said Tosin Abasi. “With the Stage 7, we saw an opportunity to create something genuinely different—an extended-range acoustic-electric that can perform on loud stages without the feedback limitations of a traditional nylon-string guitar while offering extreme upper-fret access, extended range, and a compact, ergonomic design. It opens the door for players to bring nylon-string textures into musical contexts where that might otherwise have been difficult to do.”
Chambered Mahogany Body and Exotic Wood Tops
The Abasi Stage 7 is built around an extensively chambered mahogany body with custom internal bracing designed to increase low-end response. Córdoba’s Exotic Top construction applies an ultra-thin premium exotic wood veneer to a solid spruce top.
Three finishes are available: Ziricote, White Burst and Acacia. The guitar also features an oval soundhole positioned on the side of the body.
Additional construction details include a mahogany set neck with a flat C-shaped profile, a rosewood fingerboard and black top purfling. A Fusion Fan headstock carries a rosewood overlay and inlaid Córdoba and Abasi logos.
The specifications are completed by a rosewood bridge with a bone saddle and a bone nut.
Stage Pickup System Developed with Fishman
The Abasi Stage 7 uses the Córdoba Stage Pickup System, co-developed with Fishman. The system combines an under-saddle transducer with internal body sensors to capture both string and body resonance.
Córdoba says this configuration is designed to produce a balanced nylon-string tone while reducing the characteristic “quack” sometimes associated with piezo pickups.
A side-mounted preamp provides dedicated Volume, EQ and Body Blend controls, allowing players to adjust the balance between the under-saddle pickup and the internal body sensors.

The Córdoba Abasi Stage 7 is available now with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,199.99 USD.
